Rosette Lichen

Rosette Lichens (Physica spp.) are foliose lichens meaning that they have leaf-like lobes that radiate out from the center.  The dark cups are called apothecia -- the spore producing portions of the lichen.

There are many species of Rosette Lichens -- distinguished not only by appearance, but also by specific chemical tests.
