Common Yellow Wood Sorrel (Oxalis stricta) goes by a variety of names. Lemon Clover, Sourgrass, and Pickle Plant. Names describing the sour taste one experiences when they chew on the leaves.
This weekend, I learned another name -- "vinegars". Evidently it is or was common for youngsters to sit in a lawn and chew on the leaves to get a tangy taste treat. The original Sour Patch Kids.
