Little Brown Mushrooms (also know as LBM's) are a large class of mushrooms that occur in all sorts of places and at all times of the year.
It is notoriously difficult to positively identify the particular type of LBM you are looking at. Even mushroom experts can be hard pressed to identify specific species.
The bittersweet news is that many, if not most, are poisonous. So, they are best avoided (from a culinary point of view). But, they are interesting to look at. And, if you have the time, to appreciate the subtle differences between one cluster and another.
