Butter and Eggs
It is the first week of November, but on my early morning walks, it still seems like late summer or early fall. The roadsides are still dotted with Queen Anne's Lace, Chicory, Red Clover, White Clover, Sweet White Clover, Yellow Hop Clover, White Campion, and a few late Asters and Goldenrods.
And, amid the fading grasses I found several buncehs of Butter and Eggs (Linaria vulgaris). A plant that I usually associate with the hot summer months.
Butter and Eggs is in the snap-dragon family of flowers. It is an excellent food source for bumblebees seeking a late fall meal.
