Hellborine

Hellborine (Epipactis helleborine), originally from Eurasia, is now widely naturalized in the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada.  It grows in shaded woodlands.

It is a member of the Orchid family of plants.  It is reported to take 10 years before it produces flowers.

It is sometimes referred to as a "weed orchid" as it grows much more freely than our delicate native orchids.
