Dusky Slug

The Dusky Slug or Dusky Arion (Arion subfuscus) is a non-native slug found throughout the United States.  They were introduced from Europe.  In many areas, their numbers are greater than native species.

They are relatively large slugs -- reaching up to 2.5 to 3 inches in length.

They can range in color from gray-brown to orange brown.  They have a dark brown band running down their sides.

This family of slug breathes via lungs.  A pneumostome, or breathing hole, is found on the right side of the slugs body (not seen in this photo).
